LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Flood victims in Livingston Parish got one last chance Thursday evening for help before FEMA's proof of loss deadline next month.

Both insured and uninsured homeowners got a chance to hear from several groups about money coming from the state, underpaid insurance claims and how to maximize state and federal tax refunds.

The panel was hosted by Rebuild Livingston and was held at the North Park Recreation Center.

"We really want people to get what they need right now," said Kayla Atkinson, executive director of Rebuild Livingston. "So many people are struggling to rebuild or have rebuilt and now they've spent every dime that they have, so they're looking for ways to recoup some of their money. So we're hopeful that we were able to do that tonight."

The proof of loss deadline with FEMA is May 1.
