BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A man has been arrested after officials say he committed numerous home burglaries, stealing electronics, jewelry, firearms, and other items.

Detectives with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office Armed Robbery and Burglary Division began an investigation into residential burglaries in the Jefferson Hwy., Bluebonnet Blvd., and Perkins Rd. area that reportedly happened between January and April.

Taurus Jackson, 36, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Burglary of an inhabited dwelling (3 counts)
  • Simple criminal damage to property (3 counts)
  • Theft (3 counts)
  • Aggravated burglary
  • Theft of a firearm
  • Possession of schedule II narcotics
  • Felon in possession of a firearm

Detectives executed a search warrant at Jackson's home and found various pieces of jewelry that had been reported stolen, including a Mississippi State Liberty Bowl championship ring from 2013 and an LSU Final Four appearance ring from 2006. The items were returned to their rightful owners.

Officials say Jackson made entry into the homes by kicking in the rear doors. He reportedly stole jewelry, electronics, firearms, and other items.
