New music venue in Mid-City set to open in June

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A new concert venue is set to open in Mid-City Baton Rouge this summer.

Two local musicians are opening the combination concert venue and music shop on S Acadian Thruway near North Blvd. and Baton Rouge General. The venue will be called the Mid City Ballroom. The two musicians behind the project are James Fogle and Steve Levine. Fogle is a realtor and the owner of Baton Rouge Music Exchange, while Levine is a musician and lawyer.

The two began playing together a couple of years ago and started searching for a new place to play. The two then purchased a building on S Acadian that used to be a church. The venue will hold between 250 and 300 people and will feature 2,000 square feet of space for the music shop.

Fogle says the venue will host groups from many different genres of music, including groups too young to play in bars. The two musicians also hope to host private events and wedding receptions.

Renovations of the building have been ongoing for several months now and Fogle and Levine hope to have the venue up and running by late summer.
