BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

As the regular legislative session approaches, Governor John Bel Edwards has released more information about parts of his agenda for lawmakers.

The plan includes a bill that would implement a state minimum wage. Louisiana currently does not have a minimum wage and uses the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.

Under the bill, Louisiana's minimum wage would jump to $8.50 per hour over a two-year period. The legislative begins Monday, April 10.
