BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A 20-year-old man is behind bars for allegedly fleeing the scene after hitting a man with his car during what appears to be a road rage dispute.
According to the probable cause report submitted by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, the incident happened on Monday, April 3 in the parking lot of a business located in the 18000 block of E. Old Perkins Rd.
"The witness stated [that the suspect] conducted an improper turn, cutting the victim off on E. Old Perkins," states the report. "Both suspects then pulled into the parking lot, at which time they engaged in a verbal argument."
At this point the witness claims things got heated.
"The witness stated the victim approached the [suspect's] vehicle, at which time the [suspect] opened the door, in an attempt to push the victim back," states the report. "The victim then again approached the vehicle, at which time [the suspect] again pushed him back by opening the door, while screaming, '[expletive] you, I'll kill you [expletive] [expletive].'"
The suspect then allegedly began to move his vehicle. He then accelerated and hit the victim, pinning him between his vehicle and the victim's truck, said the witness.
The victim was then transported to the hospital.
The suspect took off in his vehicle without the passenger, his co-worker, and fled the scene before police arrived.
The passenger identified the suspect as Taylor Wayne Pourciau of Denham Springs. He was arrested and charged with hit and run, aggravated battery (felony), aggravated criminal damage to property (felony), and simple assault.
Pourciau was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He is being held on an $18,500 bond.
