CENTRAL, LA (WAFB) - A family in Central, whose home was a total loss after the August 2016 flood, woke up Monday morning to find water inside their rental home. Dustin Jenkins, one of the residents, says he had only recently finished replacing the wood floors and baseboards and will now have to do it all over again. Although Jenkins says it seems unreal, he's thankful for what he learned from the first flood.
"Well, not having flood insurance the first time obviously, and losing both vehicles, your house. My business had five foot of water. Just getting everything back off the ground again, and it's just a feeling of surreal, it's not happening, but I can look around and see water all over the place," said Jenkins.
This time, Jenkins estimates they got between 4 and 5 inches of water throughout the house, and like last time, he's already thankful for the friends who have stepped up to help.
