BATON ROUGE, LA - Senior left-hander Jared Poche' (6-1) fired seven innings, allowing eight hits and just two runs with six strikeouts as No. 6 LSU defeated Texas A&M by a score of 7-4 Friday night at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
Poche’s performance was backed by an impressive night for the LSU bats, as the Tigers tallied seven runs on 13 hits, including two home runs. Shortstop Kramer Robertson was 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI and a home run. Second baseman Cole Freeman, leftfielder Antoine Duplantis, and first baseman Rankin Woley also collected two hits apiece.
In the bottom of the third inning, Duplantis singled with runners at the corners to score centerfielder Zach Watson, giving LSU the 1-0 advantage. Following a wild pitch, Robertson hit a chopper past third for a two-run RBI double to extend the lead to 3-0.
Third baseman Josh Smith put LSU up 4-0 with a two-out, RBI single in the bottom of the fifth to drive in Duplantis.
