NAPOLEONVILLE, LA (WAFB) - One teen has been arrested and another man who was already in jail is facing more charges after the teen was reportedly supplying the man with drugs from outside the prison.
Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon says Demetric Nelson Jr., 19, or Labadieville, was arrested and Tyrone Scott Jr., 31, also of Labadieville, is facing new charges after an incident that occurred at the Assumption Parish Detention Center back on March 17.
Officials say detention center employees intercepted a container and discovered suspected contraband. Narcotics investigators conducted an investigation and determined Nelson had delivered the container, intended for Scott.
Nelson is charged with:
- Introducing contraband into a penal institution
- Distribution of oxycodone
- Distribution of heroin
Nelson was transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center, where his bond is set at $155,000.
Scott is charged with:
- Conspiracy to possess hydrocodone
- Conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution
- Conspiracy to possess heroin
Scott was already incarcerated on multiple drug and weapon charges. He is awaiting a bond hearing.
