Former LSU pitcher Kevin Gausman will get the 2017 opening day start for the Baltimore Orioles.
The O's start the season at home against the Toronto Blue Jays on April 3.
The former Tiger ace went 9-12 with a 3.61 ERA in 30 starts for the Orioles in 2016.
The right-hander had a 3.10 ERA in the second half of the season, going 8-6 down the stretch.
Gausman pitched two seasons at LSU, finishing with a 17-8 record and a 3.14 ERA.
The Tiger ace had a big sophomore year, starting 17 games, finishing with a 12-2 record and a 2.77 ERA. He pitched 123.2 innings, striking out 135 batters, while issuing only 28 walks.
In 2012, he was named a first Team All-American, as well as first team All-SEC.
Baltimore took Gausman with the fourth pick of the first round in the 2012 MLB Draft.
