Woman injured by pellet gun in Baker, released from hospital

BAKER, LA (WAFB) -

A 22-year-old woman was injured in an apparent shooting in East Baton Rouge Parish on Sunday, according to police.

The Baker Police Department reported the incident happened on Shilo St. in Baker around 1:30 p.m.

Police Chief Carl Dunn said his detectives are investigating "what appeared to be a shooting." He added no one reported hearing gunfire, but one victim was taken to the hospital.

The victim's name has not been released, but Dunn identified the victim as a 22-year-old woman.

After arriving at the hospital to interview the victim, police updated that she was shot in the back with a pellet gun and has been discharged.
