ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) - If you have something purple in your closet, put it on and wear it proud on March 24.
Ascension Parish has declared the day "Paint the Parish Purple Day." The goal is to promote cancer awareness.
"I want to encourage everyone to wear purple on Friday, March 24," said Ascension Parish President Kenny Matassa. "Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer, and this is a great way to show your support for the good work of the American Cancer Society."
The day was organized by the American Cancer Society to not only promote awareness, but to also give individuals and communities an opportunity to fight back against cancer.
The annual fundraiser, "Ascension Parish Relay for Life," will be held Saturday, April 29 at Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.
