WALKER, LA (WAFB) - Elementary school students and faculty are taking time out of their educational agendas to pay respects to a fallen law enforcement officer that is very near and dear to their hearts.
Becky Anderson, widow of the slain East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office deputy, Sgt. Shawn Anderson, works as an instructional coach at Levi Milton Elementary School in Walker. The funeral procession on Thursday, March 23, is expected to move through the Walker community and pass in front of LME at 2:15 p.m.
LEAP tutoring has been suspended for Thursday morning and students are encouraged to wear royal blue or black shirts along with their uniform bottoms. They may also bring homemade signs and small American flags to honor Sgt. Anderson's sacrifice.
LME shared a Facebook post with information regarding Thursday's events alongside a quote: "This is a small sacrifice for a man and a family that has sacrificed so much for our community."
