BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Our Lady of the Lake held a recruiting day Friday, similar to what's done in football.
Medical students about to begin their year of residency found out in which of OLOL's facilities they'll continue their studies.
"Louisiana, typically, does not do well in migrating talent and so the nice thing about today is that 50 percent of the new residents that will start at Our Lady of the Lake are coming from out of state. So we're bringing in fresh talent, and hopefully those physicians stay in our state and practice medicine," said Laurinda Calogna, chief academic officer at OLOL.
Students from as far away as San Francisco, Michigan, and Nebraska were among the Louisiana talent. A medical residency lasts anywhere from three to five years.
