PLAQUEMINE, LA (WAFB) -

According to a release from DOW Chemical in Plaquemine, the plant currently has flaring activity taking place.

DOW is currently in the process of safely restarting the production unit following an earlier issue. Flaring is the controlled and effective burn of industrial gases and is an essential safety measure. Burning converts the gases into two common substances: carbon dioxide and water vapor.

There is no cause for concern and DOW apologizes to the community for any inconvenience to the public.
