LSU Vet School to host 24th annual Great Rover Road Run Sunday

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) the 24th Annual Great Rover Road Run on Sunday, March 19.

The run consists of a 5k, followed by a 1-mile run/walk with your dog. The 5k begins at 8 a.m., with the 1-mile run beginning at 9:15 a.m. at the LSU SVM on Skip Bertram Dr.

Pre-registered runners will receive a t-shirt and "doggy bag." Water and refreshments will be provided for all runners. Awards will be given to first, second, and third place winners in each age group for the 5k and the winners of the 1-mile fun run.

Click here to register online. Participants can also register on-site the day of the event. The registration fee is $25 each for the 5k and 1-mile fun run, or $35 for both. Pre-registered participants can pick up their registration packet in the lobby of the LSU SVM March 13 through March 17 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Dogs in the 1-mile fun run must be on a 6-foot, non-retractable leash. Please do not bring female dogs in heat. Dogs must also have proof of vaccinations and may be excluded if they are aggressive. No dogs are allowed during the 5k run. There will also be a costume contest and best trick contest for participating dogs. There is a $5 entry fee for these contests for those who did not participate in either race.

Proceeds benefit SCAVMA programs, including scholarships for vet students.
