MARKSVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

In day three of jury selection in Marksville, the defense and prosecution added four more people to the list of potential jurors, bringing the total number up to 11. They need 14 jurors total, 12 jurors plus two alternates.

On Wednesday, March 14, they finished questioning the third pool of people subpoenaed and started on the fourth group after lunch. From the third pool, they were able to pick out four additional potential jurors. That's on top of the six picked out from Monday's batch and one from Tuesday's batch.

The jury is being selected in the case of Derrick Stafford, a Ward 2 Deputy Marshal, who is accused of the murder of a 6-year-old boy and attempted murder of his father.

As soon as a jury is seated, opening statements are expected to begin.
