BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - It's a moment the folks over at Baton Rouge Community College having been anxiously waiting for: the nearly $30 million McKay Automotive Training Center is finally finished.
The state-of-the-art facility features several high-tech classrooms that will be used to train a new crop of auto mechanics. It's a project that's been in the making for nearly a decade and will help fill multiple job vacancies at shops throughout the area.
"I'm excited that this addition to the BRCC is actually going to leverage future economic development investments in north Baton Rouge and around the region and help jump start our local economy," said Governor John Bel Edwards.
Gov. Edwards called the completion of the new facility the perfect public-private partnership that would not have been possible without the help of the McKay family and All Star Automotive.
