LSU baseball shuts out Louisiana College 13-0

BATON ROUGE, LA - No. 6 LSU (13-4) blanked Louisiana College (13-5) by a score of 13-0 on Tuesday night at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.

Freshman right-handed pitcher Zack Hess (2-0) earned the win for the Tigers, allowing no runs and only one hit, striking out seven in six innings worked.

The Tigers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom half of the first inning. Rightfielder Greg Deichmann doubled down the right field line to score second baseman Cole Freeman for LSU's first run of the game.

First baseman Jake Slaughter hit a sacrifice fly to center to drive in leftfielder Antoine Duplantis, giving the Tigers a 2-0 advantage. On the following play, centerfielder Zach Watson hit an RBI single up the middle for LSU's third run of the frame.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, designated hitter Beau Jordan singled up the middle, bringing home third baseman Josh Smith, as LSU grabbed a 4-0 lead. Catcher Nick Coomes hit an RBI single through the left side on the next play, tallying the fifth run of the game for the Tigers.
