NEW ORLEANS (WAFB) - The New Orleans Saints have agreed to a one-year contract with former Arizona linebacker/defensive end Alex Okafor.
Okafor played outside linebacker for four seasons with the Cardinals.
He played 42 games and totaled 100 tackles, 13.5 sacks, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and one interception.
Last year Okafor played through a torn biceps and was limited to 3.5 sacks.
As a four-year letterman at Texas (2009-12), Okafor played in 52 career games for the Longhorns with 33 starts and finished his college career with 150 tackles, 23 sacks, 34 tackles for loss, seven forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, four passes defensed and a blocked kick.
Okafor is the second linebacker signed by the Saints during the free agency period. Former Carolina inside linebacker AJ Klein signed a three-year contract with the team last week.
Klein finished the 2016 season with 31 tackles, two forced fumbles and one sack.
