LSU women's basketball makes NCAA Tournament as No. 8 seed

BATON ROUGE, LA - For the 25th time in school history, the LSU women's basketball team will be playing in the NCAA Tournament as announced on ESPN Monday evening.

As the No. 8 seed, LSU (20-11) will face No. 9 seed California (19-13) at 8 p.m. CT in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament on Saturday in Waco, Texas, as part of the Oklahoma City Region. The game will be televised on ESPN2.

In her sixth season as the head coach of the Lady Tigers, this is Nikki Fargas' fifth NCAA Tournament appearance with LSU. In addition to being the program's 25th showing in the post-season event, it is also the 17th time in the last 19 seasons dating back to 1999 that the Lady Tigers are in The Big Dance.
