BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The American Civil Liberties Union, commonly known as the ACLU, gave area resident a lesson in their rights Saturday.
The group met on the LSU campus. It was just one of 2,000 similar meetings that took place across the country.
"I hope they've recognized the importance of what's happening nationwide, and that civil liberties are part of our American values and should be protected for people from all walks of life," said Ramon Lopez, an attendee.
The ACLU says it has launched a new campaign in order to protect the civil liberties of all people. Saturday's meetings taught attendees about the first amendment and some of the major issues facing minorities today.
