DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) - Bryce Edling, 14, was killed on March 2 and his friends at Denham Springs Freshman High remembered him for his kindness and ability to make everyone around him smile.

A group gathered at the school Friday, not far from where Edling was tragically killed. They shared memories, before gathering around his parents for a balloon release. The teen's family says having the community's support has helped them through this tough time.

"I told him every chance I got that I was proud of him and I told him every day that I love him and that is one of the main things that lets me know it's gonna' be okay, because he knew he was loved and had an amazing life and an amazing set of friends," said Lindsay Edling, Bryce's mother.

School leaders say they're selling t-shirts in Bryce's honor. All proceeds will go to the family.
