ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) - The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office reports the arrest of a man after a month-long investigation into illegal narcotics being shipped to the man's home.
Ron McZeal, 47, of Geismar, was arrested by narcotics detectives on Thursday, March 9.
Detectives began an investigation with the Baton Rouge Police Department and saw McZeal retrieve a package from his home, then leave the area. The report states officials then initiated a traffic stop and McZeal consented to allow detectives to search his vehicle. Officials say inside the package, they located five pounds of marijuana, with an approximate street value of $20,000. Also seized from the vehicle was a digital scale and $1,500 in cash.
McZeal is charged with possession with intent to distribute schedule I controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and no turn signals. He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. No bond has currently been set.
