ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

An effort is currently underway in Ascension Parish to improve the curb appeal for the Council on Aging (COA).

A brand new gazebo is in the works for the Ascension Parish Council on Aging.

"There's always things for them to do here at the center as it stands now, but anytime you bring something new and different they're always looking for something like that and again, it's just going to be wonderful for them to come outside, maybe sit around and talk to each other, and maybe have a good time,” said Mayor Barney Arceneaux.

The plan for the gazebo was submitted by Rockin’ Through the Ages, a group that’s part of Leadership Ascension. The team designed a 15x20 gazebo for the outdoor area, located at the front of COA building. They anticipate the entire project will cost about $25,000.

Members of Leadership Ascension are in the process of raising money for the project to improve the outdoor area for COA members. This structure will include sitting areas and spots for fans and radios.
