Murder suspect says ‘I’m sorry for your loss’ to victim’s family

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Police said the suspect in a deadly shooting in January was arrested Tuesday. 

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Allen Turner Jr., 27, was caught by the Louisiana State Police Fugitive Task Force.

“I’m sorry for the family,” Turner said as he was being escorted by detectives. “I’m sorry for the family’s loss.” 

Turner is accused of shooting Devin Johnese, 35, on Jan. 20, 2017 on the corner of Jefferson Avenue and North 23rd Street after an argument inside a business. Johnese died several days later.

Investigators said Turner was identified through a tip to Crime Stoppers after still images of video footage from a nearby business were released on the news.

Turner was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He is charged with second-degree murder.
