Fire investigators said the public responded in helping identify the person believed to be responsible for setting a small fire inside the Walmart on O'Neal Lane early Sunday morning.

According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, Jarrett McCleskey, 19, of Livingston Parish, faces charges of aggravated arson and terrorizing.

Investigators said he was taken into custody by the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office and booked as a fugitive. They added he was then taken to BRFD headquarters.

Authorities said during questioning, McCleskey admitted to setting the fire. They reported he said the other people with him had no idea what he was going to do.

Officials said the fire happened around 3 a.m. They added the suspect lit three strings on fire. One of those strings landed on a rack of clothes that then caught fire as well.

The incident was captured on surveillance cameras.

BRFD said Eastside Fire Department and the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office helped with the investigation.
