Get ready to run...with your dog: 24th annual Great Rover Road Run

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Love to run? Love to run with your dog? Then this race is for you.

The 24th annual Great Rover Road Run is set to be held on Sunday, March 19. The 5K run and one mile fun run/walk will begin at 8 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine on Skip Bertman Dr.

The event will also feature a costume contest and best trick contest.

The purpose of the event is to promote health and wellness for not only ourselves, but for our four-legged friends, too.

AND...all money raised will go to the LSU-SVM spay day event.

Pre-registered participants will get a t-shirt and "doggy bag." Water and refreshments will be provided for all participants. Awards will be given to the first-, second- and third-place winners in the different age categories for the 5K run and to the winners of the one mile run.

Dog participants must be on a six-foot leash (not a retractable leash). Please do not bring female dogs if they are in heat. Dog participants must have proof of current vaccination and may be excluded if they are aggressive. No dogs will be allowed on the 5K course with competitive runners. Canine competitions after the race will include a costume contest and best trick. There will be a $5 entry fee for non-race participants.
