BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to a house fire around 7:30 p.m. Thursday night.
The home in question is located on Greenwell Springs Rd. near Sullivan Rd. The fire caused a large hole in the roof of the home. Greenwell Springs Rd. was shut down in both directions for some time while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.
The Central Fire Department, as well as East Side and District 6, also responded to the call.
The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes. Just before 9 p.m., the eastbound lane of Greenwell Springs Rd. was reopened. No injuries have been reported.
Officials say no one was home at the time of the fire, since it has been vacant since the August 2016 flood. Investigators are working to determine the cause.
