FIRST ALERT TRAFFIC: Roadway incidents and closures for Monday, July 9

(WAFB) - Below is a list of traffic incidents and notices for Monday, July 9.

7:51 p.m. - All lanes are open on I-10 East at LA 975 (Whiskey Bay). Congestion has reached LA 3177 (Butte LaRose).

7:37 p.m. - The right lane remains blocked on I-10 East at LA 975 (Whiskey Bay) due to a vehicle fire. Congestion has reached LA 3177 (Butte LaRose).

6:55 p.m. - The left lane has opened leaving the right lane is blocked on I-10 East at LA 975 (Whiskey Bay) due to a vehicle fire. Congestion has reached approximately 5 miles in length.

6:33 p.m. - I-10 East is closed at LA 975 (Whiskey Bay) due to a vehicle fire. Congestion has reached approximately 2 miles in length. Use alternate route.

5:42 p.m. - All lanes are open I-110 South before Government Street. There is no congestion.

4:52 p.m. - The left lane is blocked I-110 South before Government Street due to a wreck. Congestion is approaching Capitol Access Road.

The Ascension Parish Department of Public Works announced that a portion of New River Canal Road will be closed starting Monday, July 2 to repair a collapsed culvert. New River Canal Road, south of Cornerview Road in Geismar, will be closed for about four weeks between Wildred Kling Drive and Kling Extension. Drivers heading west from that location will have access to LA 73 and those traveling east will have access to Kling Road.

River Road (LA 18) in front of Total Choice Credit Union in Hahnville will be closed in both directions from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 7 while the Department of Public Works removes and replaces a culvert.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is replacing two bridges on State Route 571 in Amite County near the Louisiana state line. The replacements will close traffic on State Route 571 in both directions. Bridge No. 0.0 and Bridge No. 0.9 on State Route 571 in Amite County have been designated for replacement. Work is expected to begin on June 25 and continue through late fall of 2018.

The intersection of East Rome Street and South Park Avenue in Gonzales will be closed Monday, June 18 through Friday, July 6. The closure is necessary to replace concrete and asphalt paving resulting from subsurface utility work previously completed.

Bluff Road (LA 928) in Ascension Parish will be closed from Tuesday, May 29 at 7 a.m. to Tuesday, August 7 at 6 p.m. The closure is necessary to lift the bridge and replace the concrete girder. Detours information is as follows:

Beginning Sunday, April 1, construction will begin on an $18 million project on I-10 from LA 347 (Atchafalaya Basin Bridge) to LA 77 (Grosse Tete) in St. Martin and Iberville Parishes. The work will take place 24 hours per day, with intermittent lane closures with 15-minute intervals for moving equipment. Intermittent single lane closures will take place nightly Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., and on Sundays from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. The road will be open to regular traffic with a 12-foot lane restriction on oversized loads. Drivers can use US 190 as an alternate route. The project will include cleaning, painting, and repairing of concrete and metal bridge structures. The project should be completed in June of 2019.

West Main Street in Gonzales is closed in both directions starting Monday, February 12 for emergency repairs. Officials said the closure is near The Carriage House at 12138 West Main Street due to collapsing culverts. The road will remain closed until further notice.

LA 413 is closed at Discharge Bayou in Pointe Coupee Parish until further notice. The bridge has sustained damage to the support structures. Please use alternate routes.
