FIRST ALERT TRAFFIC: Traffic and accident reports for Tuesday, August 14

The following are traffic incidents reported for Tuesday, August 14.

10:03 p.m. - The right lane is blocked on I-10 West on the Mississippi River Bridge due to a stalled tractor trailer. Traffic congestion is minimal.

9:57 p.m. - The right lane is blocked I-12 East past Essen due to a wreck. Congestion is building.

One lane of Germany Road in Prairieville will be closed between LA 44 and Airline Highway from Monday, August 13 through Wednesday, August 15 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The closure is necessary for geotechnical testing operations associated with the Move Ascension project.

The railroad crossing located off Choctaw between RSC and Graybar Electric will be closed for repairs from Monday, August 13 at 7 a.m. through Wednesday, August 15 at 3 p.m. The alternate route will be Airline Highway or Wooddale Boulevard to East Industrial Avenue.

Bluebonnet Blvd (LA 1248) will have alternating lane closures from Monday, August 13 through Sunday, November 18. Closures will be from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday to Friday and 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Lane closures will be occurring on both southbound and northbound directions of Bluebonnet Blvd between intersections of I-10 and Perkins Rd. One lane of travel will be maintained in both directions. This closure is necessary for concrete pavement patching, curb repair, asphalt overlay, and permanent striping.

I-10 between Mississippi River Bridge and LA 42 (Highland Rd.) may have one lane closed (Weather Permitting) from Sunday, August 12 through Friday, August 17 at 9 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning. Also, I-110 between the I-10/I-110 Interchange and US 61 (Scenic Hwy) may have one lane closed (Weather Permitting) from Sunday, August 12 through Friday, August 17 at 7 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning. At least one lane in either direction will be open at all times. This closure is necessary for catch basin and storm drain cleaning. There are no vehicle restrictions.

There will be intermittent lane closures in the following locations (At least one lane will be open at all times) from Friday, August 10 through Friday, August 17 at 7 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning (Weather Permitting):

LA 427 (Acadian Thwy): LA 427 (Perkins Rd) - LA 73 (Government St.)
LA 408 (Harding Blvd): Southern University - LA 67 (Plank Rd.)
US 190 (Florida Blvd): US 61 (Airline Hwy.) - LA 3245 (O'Neal Ln.) (Median & Crossovers)
N. 22nd St.: LA 73(Government St.) - I-110

This closure is necessary for catch basin and drain pipe cleaning. There are no vehicle restrictions.

There will also be intermittent lane closures in the following locations (At least one lane will be open at all times) from Friday, August 10 through Friday, August 17 at 8 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning (Weather Permitting):

I-12 East and I-12 West between the I-10/I-12 junction and the Livingston Parish Line
I-10 East and I-10 West between Acadian Thruway and the I-10/I-12 junction
College Dr. between I-10 East and Corporate Blvd.

This closure is necessary for concrete patching and related work. There are no vehicle restrictions.

Goodwood Boulevard between Lobdell Avenue and Airline Highway will have two lanes closed from Wednesday, August 1 at 6 a.m. until Friday, August 31 at 7 p.m. The closure is for road rehab (concrete panel replacement).

LA 67 (North 22nd Street) in Baton Rouge will have a southbound lane closure between Main Street and Convention Street from Thursday, July 26 through Monday, September 10 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. This closure is to allow crews to safely repair the wall that surrounds BR National Cemetery.

US 190 (Florida Boulevard) will have an eastbound lane closure between North 19th Street and North 22nd Street from Thursday, July, 26 through Monday, September 10 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. This closure is to allow crews to safely repair the wall that surrounds BR National Cemetery. 

Claycut Road between South Acadian Thruway and Marwede Avenue will be closed from Monday, July 23 until Tuesday, March 19, 2019 for the replacement of the bridge over Dawson Creek.

East State Street Bridge over Corporation Canal between Dalrymple Drive and Highland Road will be closed immediately (as of Thursday, July 12) for emergency bridge repair. The detour route will be Highland Road to Dalrymple Drive.

Beginning Monday, July 16 from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m., the eastbound left lane on US 190 (Florida Boulevard) will be closed to perform guardrail repairs. The point closure will be 1.2 miles East of US 61.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is replacing two bridges on State Route 571 in Amite County near the Louisiana state line. The replacements will close traffic on State Route 571 in both directions. Bridge No. 0.0 and Bridge No. 0.9 on State Route 571 in Amite County have been designated for replacement. Work is expected to begin on June 25 and continue through late fall of 2018.

West Main Street in Gonzales is closed in both directions starting Monday, February 12 for emergency repairs. Officials said the closure is near The Carriage House at 12138 West Main Street due to collapsing culverts. The road will remain closed until further notice.

LA 413 is closed at Discharge Bayou in Pointe Coupee Parish until further notice. The bridge has sustained damage to the support structures. Please use alternate routes.
