(RNN) - If last year's classic championship game between Alabama and Clemson wasn't enough, get prepared for a rematch.

Both teams easily earned return trips to the national championship game. Alabama downed Washington 24-7 and Clemson toppled Ohio State 31-0.

It will be a highly anticipated rematch between last year's championship game opponents that played a back-and-forth epic with the Tide coming out on top 45-40.

Clemson has a score to settle after that game, and are led back to the championship game by Heisman Trophy finalist Deshaun Watson, who threw for 259 yards and rushed for 57 more in the win over Ohio State, and was pulled before the game ended.

The title game will feature two dual-threat quarterbacks who have been responsible for their offenses' success throughout the season.

Alabama earned a trip to Tampa on Jan. 9 to defend its national championship with a typical all-around performance against the Huskies.

Alabama has been the wire-to-wire No. 1 team in the College Football Playoff rankings and is looking to close out the year with a repeat national championship.

The Tide have been dominant all season with only one game decided by a single possession - a 48-43 win over Ole Miss in September.

It was no different against Washington.

Bo Scarbrough muscled through an overmatched Husky defense with 180 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Alabama's defense got five sacks and its own touchdown with an interception return by Ryan Anderson.

Washington coach Chris Peterson entered the game 5-0 against top 10 opponents in his career and Washington was the best team in the nation at forcing turnovers, but Alabama coach Nick Saban's own impressive record and the Tide's three turnovers without committing any flipped that on its head.

Clemson gave Ohio State coach Urban Meyer the only shutout loss of his career.
