ORLANDO, FL (WAFB) - The 20th-ranked LSU Tigers and 13th-ranked Louisville Cardinals will meet for the first time on the gridiron when the teams square off in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl on Saturday, December 31. Kickoff for the contest is set for 10 a.m. CST in Orlando, Florida.
On Wednesday, LSU quarterback Danny Etling spoke to WAFB's Jacques Doucet before the team's practice. Etling discussed a number of items, including the bowl game, the off-season, and his teammates.
LSU, which has gone 5-2 since Ed Orgeron took over the club following a loss to Auburn in late September, is 7-4 overall. The Tigers are coming off a 54-39 win over Texas A&M in their last outing and bring one of the nation's top defenses into the game.
Louisville won nine of its first ten games and climbed to as high as No. 5 in the College Football Playoff Rankings. The Cardinals are 9-3 overall and feature Heisman Trophy winning quarterback, Lamar Jackson, who has accounted for over 50 touchdowns this year.
