(WAFB) - Christmas is right around the corner, so this week is "peak" week for mail carriers and shipping companies.
For most companies and the United States Postal Service (USPS), there are only three days left to mail holiday packages in order for the package to arrive before Christmas.
For USPS, these are the 2016 holiday shipping cut-off dates:
- Wednesday, December 21: Priority Mail® Service
- Friday, December 23: Priority Mail Express® Service
For the United Parcel Service (UPS), the 2016 holiday gift shipping deadlines are as follows:
- Wednesday, December 21: Last day to ship UPS 2nd Day Air (Package will be delivered by Dec. 23)
- Friday, December 23: Last day to ship UPS Next Day Air (Package will be delivered by Dec. 24)
UPS does not have delivery service on Christmas Day or the day after Christmas.
According to USA Today, a spokeswoman for UPS said the company is anticipating it will deliver more than 30 million packages a day this week. That's almost twice the 16 million deliveries made during a more typical 24-hour-period.
