LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) - A male and female suspect have both been arrested following two alleged armed robberies in Denham Springs.
On Tuesday, December 20, around 11:30 a.m., Denham Springs Police officers were dispatched to Cracker Barrel on Cockerham Rd. for an armed robbery call. Officials say the male suspect, later identified as Michael L. Watkins, 32, of Denham Springs, approached a customer at the gas pumps armed with a handgun and took the victim's wallet, keys, and cell phone, while the female suspect, later identified as Angel M. McCarroll, 29, of Holden, waited in a vehicle.
Officials say Watkins and McCarroll then fled the scene traveling eastbound on Cockerham Rd., when they were located at 9250 Cockerham Rd. in a red Hyundai Sante Fe by Denham Springs Police officers, who were joined by Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office deputies. Stolen property and weapon, a BB gun, were recovered at that time. Watkins was positively identified by the victim.
Watkins and McCarroll were booked on armed robbery charges.
It was also determined that the two suspects has committed a similar robbery just minutes before at the Circle K, located at the corner of Hwy. 16 and Lockhart Rd. just outside the city limits of Denham Springs.
During that incident, Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the Circle K in reference to armed robbery complaints.
"Around noon today, a male and female traveling in a red vehicle pulled into a convenience store lot located at that intersection. The male, armed with a weapon, approached a victim parked in the store parking lot. The male demanded the victim's cell phone and other items. When the victim complied, the male suspect hopped back into the waiting vehicle and fled the scene. We do know the duo hit a second location inside the city limits of Denham Springs. Members of the DSPD successfully located the pair. Working together, DSPD and LPSO were able to take the suspects into custody and recover stolen items," said Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard.
Information was also receive that McCarroll may have been involved in a theft in Walker on Monday.
