Deaths in Baton Rouge caused by HIV/AIDS have skyrocketed since 1980s

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - An analysis of parish death data done by the Institute for Health Metrics and evaluation is revealing some alarming new information about diseases in Louisiana.

In East Baton rouge, deaths connected to HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis has skyrocketed 1,515 percent since the 1980's.

That is faster than any other parish or county nationwide.

East Feliciana and West Baton Rouge parishes also saw some major increases in deaths caused by HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.
