BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Capital Area Transit System (CATS) told some bus riders at the Florida Boulevard hub that they couldn't get there Monday night, and canceled three bus routes.
CATS customer service tells 9News they did not have a driver to take the remaining routes, so they canceled bus service to Acadian, Fairfield, and Gus Young. CATS officials say about 20 bus riders saw their routes closed Monday night. Bus rider, Donald Smith, said he was connecting from downtown's bus to Gus Young when he was left stranded.
"It's frustrating because I'm liable. When you leave home, you have to know that you have an alternate to get back where you're going because you can't rely on the bus system in Baton Rouge," said Smith.
Smith also says CATS did not offer an alternate ride, that everyone had to scramble to line up a taxi or a friend to pick them up. Other buses ran throughout the city Monday night, however the cancellation was only for bus service to Acadian, Fairfield, and Gus Young.
