BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A man who was wanted by deputies for allegedly raping a woman while her 10-year-old child was in the room has been arrested.
According to the probable cause report submitted by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, the alleged incident happened on December 18 at roughly 12:30 a.m.
The victim claims Daniel Hinton, 32, began raping her while she was sleeping. She claims she woke up during the assault and began screaming "stop," but he then physically held her down.
The report also notes that the woman's child was in the room at the time of the assault. The child allegedly told investigators that he hit Hinton in attempt to stop the assault.
The victim has had previous encounters with Hinton. She claims Hinton has made sexual advances toward her in the past, but she has always denied him.
After Hinton left the home, the victim reported the assault to deputies. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
Hinton was arrested and charged with second-degree rape. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
According to court records, Hinton has prior convictions in the 19th Judicial District Court for armed robbery, simple battery, and aggravated battery.
