BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Authorities say a woman is dead after being shot by her ex-boyfriend, who later apparently shot himself.

On December 17, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Detectives responded to a shooting on the 11000 block of Catalina Ave.

According to authorities, 33-year-old Tangela Detiege, of Baton Rouge, was pronounced dead on the scene at her home from apparent gunshot wounds. According to her Facebook page, Detiege was a school bus driver with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

According to reports, her ex-boyfriend, 32-year-old Matthew Thornton, also of Baton Rouge, shot her during a verbal altercation and fled the scene.

On the morning of December 18, LSU Police located Thornton’s vehicle on the levee at River Road near Ben Hur Road.

Thornton was found deceased inside the vehicle from a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities say.
