BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - This fall, Louisiana State University was rated as the best value among universities in Louisiana by SmartAsset.
Kiplinger's Personal Finance has also agreed LSU is the "Best College Value" in the 2017 rankings. For in-state students, LSU is rated 65 in Kiplinger's Top 100 Public Colleges, making it the highest ranked school in Louisiana.
"In today's higher education market, students are looking at value and return on investment more than ever. We know the value and importance of an LSU degree, and these ratings further show that LSU provides an exceptional educational opportunity to students in Louisiana," said F. King Alexander, president of LSU.
To determine its rankings, Kiplinger examines competitiveness, including admission rate and yield, graduation rates, academic support, cost and financial aid, student indebtedness, salary yardstick, and additions and exclusions.
Among public universities in Louisiana, LSU has the highest four year graduation rate and the highest salary yardstick at $45,800. Kiplinger's salary yardstick rating is the median earnings of workers who started college 10 years earlier and received federal financial aid.
