Amite officer sentenced to 13 years on rape, kidnapping charges

AMITE, LA (WAFB) -

The 21st Judicial District Court has confirmed Grant Carruth, a former Amite police officer, has been convicted on one count of simple kidnapping and one count of simple rape.

On December 14, Carruth was sentenced to eight years for the simple rape charge and five years for the simple kidnapping charge. The sentences will run concurrently with each other. 

Carruth was arrested in September of 2014 for using social media to lure two women to meet him and forcing them to perform sexual acts.
