ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Ascension Parish has announced it will assume responsibility for debris removal along state highways, effective December 12.

"If you live along a state highway and you still have debris remaining on your property, we are going to help you," said parish president, Kenny Matassa.

Residents must visit the Parish Government Complex, room 105, located at 615 East Worthey St. in Gonzales to sign the paperwork required to have debris picked up. Residents can also call Tetra Tech at 225-348-2254 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday.

Debris will continue to be picked up through December 22 before a brief holiday break. A final pass will be conducted throughout the parish January 9 - 20. The Ascension Parish government will not demolish or pick up demolished homes. Residents should secure other alternatives needed to removed demolished homes from their property.
