BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A woman was arrested Thursday morning after crashing into another vehicle while allegedly on Lortabs with a two-year-old child in the vehicle, according to investigators.
According to reports, officials were dispatched to the area of George O'Neal Road and Jones Creek just before 11 a.m. to anonymous complaints of a car being operated in a reckless manner. Deputies observed the vehicle crash into the rear of another vehicle that was stopped at a red light.
Reports state the driver of the vehicle was observed to have slurred speech, constricted pupils, upper body sway, dry mouth and poor balance. The reports added the driver, Meghan Longmire, 33, performed poorly on a series of field sobriety tests and was arrested.
Officials said Longmire admitted to taking Lortab pills. Deputies also observed she had a two-year-old child in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Longmire was transported to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, where she was offered the chance to submit to a chemical urine test, which she refused, stating she did not want to test positive for the Lortab she was taking.
Longmire is charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated (1st offense) and reckless operation of a vehicle.
