BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

For those in the midst of flood recovery, the Louisiana Emergency Preparedness Association is hosting an Affordable Housing Solutions Expo and Disaster Recovery Resource Fair.

The event will be held at the Celtic Media Centre - Caitlin Bldg. Stage 6 on Friday, Dec. 9 from 12:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

"People are at different phases of recovery with this event and it's going to be like that because there were so many people involved," said Mike Steele, Communications Director for the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. "Some people are still dealing with day-to-day issues trying to get by, others have kind of advanced a little more where they may be looking at different housing options that may be out there. So what we're going to have on display is going to be like a trade show."

Exhibitors will present housing solutions in a trade show atmosphere where home kits, tiny homes, park and destination trailers, prefabricated housing, container housing, and other options will be available for survivors to tour.

"People can actually walk through some of these units, take a look at what's available and see if it may be the right fit for them. All of these options are available as permanent housing and a lot of people here in Louisiana used them in that capacity. Others may be looking for something to get them by temporarily," said Steele.

FEMA and SBA case workers will also be available in the same building to answer questions, concerns and provide status updates.

Realtors, contractors, crisis counselors, loan counselors and legal advisers will also be on site to provide information and assistance.

CATS (Capital Area Transit System) will be providing transportation to the site beginning 30 minutes before the expo on both days and will continue service throughout the event.

There will also be a Kids Corner for children to play.

The expo is open to the public and admission is free.

The Celtic Media Centre is located at 10000 Celtic Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70809.
