Man wanted for murder of woman during domestic dispute turns himself in

HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) - The man accused of murdering a woman during a domestic dispute is now in custody and officials have called a press conference to release more information about the case.

According to the Hammond Police Department, Martin Haynes, 25, of Hammond, surrendered to the Hammond Police Department on Tuesday at roughly 7:30 a.m.

Haynes is accused of shooting T'keyah Hooker, 22, during a domestic dispute on Sunday, December 4 at roughly 11:15 p.m.

Officers were initially dispatched to a hotel on Westin Oaks Dr. when they came across the murder scene at a nearby gas station.

"While en route, a HPD officer heard screaming at the Shell Station, located on Highway 190 West, and noticed a person lying on the ground," officials said in a press release. "HPD pulled over to assist and discovered the victim was fatally shot."

The three people were arrested shortly after the discovery of the crime scene:

  • Eric McDonald, 37, of Independence - charged with obstruction of justice
  • Jireal Lee, 23, of Hammond - charged with accessory after the fact (second-degree murder)
  • Marqueita Moore, 39, of LaPlace - charged with accessory after the fact (second-degree murder)

A press conference will be held at 2 p.m.
