BAKER, LA (WAFB) - Monday, Representative Cedric Richmond announced the Baker School System and City of Baton Rouge will receive millions of dollars in federal funding.
The Baker School System will receive $3.9 million for cleaning, damage removal, and sanitation needs of school buildings that were impacted by flooding. Baton Rouge will receive $2.9 million for performing emergency protective measures during the flooding.
"Southeastern Louisiana has suffered through some of the worst flooding in our nation's history. As a result, many families, school districts, and businesses are still struggling to get back on their feet. These important resources from FEMA are evidence that we are not alone in that struggle. I will continue to work with our federal partners to ensure the people of Baton Rouge and Baker receive the support they need and deserve to recover from this historic flooding," said Rep. Richmond.
