EAST FELICIANA PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Louisiana State Police troopers began investigating a crash shortly after 10 a.m. on December 5 that claimed the life of one woman.

The two vehicle crash occurred on LA 955 west of LA 19 in East Feliciana Parish. Kristy Weatherman, 33, of Baton Rouge, was killed in the incident.

The initial investigation by LSP revealed that the crash happened as Weatherman was traveling westbound on LA 955 in a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country while at the same time, Fredric Jones, 56, of Osyka, MS, was traveling eastbound in a 2009 International 18-wheeler. For unknown reasons, Weatherman's vehicle crossed the center line into the eastbound lane and hit the rear axle of Jones' trailer.

Weatherman was properly restrained at the time of the wreck, but suffered fatal injuries nonetheless. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the East Feliciana Parish Coroner's Office. Weatherman's unrestrained 22-year-old passenger sustained serious injuries after being partially ejected from the vehicle. There were also two infant passengers in Weatherman's vehicle. Both were properly restrained and suffered moderate injuries. Jones was properly restrained and was unhurt.

Impairment is not suspected as a factor in this crash, but toxicology samples will be taken from both drivers for analysis.
