BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Southern may have lost its final game to Grambling in the Bayou Classic, but it was an incredible ride as the Jaguars went on an eight game winning streak, finishing the season with an 8-3 record.
The Jags and Tigers also dominated the SWAC All-Conference teams announced on Thursday. Grambling State picked up the most selections with 14 and Southern was next with 10 selections.
The two teams had an astounding nine players garner first-team consideration.
Southern running back Lenard Tillery, offensive linemen Terrell Lee, Anthony Mosley and Jamal Boulden, wide receiver Willie Quinn and tight end Dillon Beard were named to the All-SWAC Offense first-team announced on Thursday.
Defensive lineman Aaron Tiller and defensive back Danny Johnson were named to the defense first-team, while Willie Quinn was named to the first-team Special Teams as a return specialist.
Southern's other selection, quarterback Austin Howard, was named to the second-team.
