The Sportsline Player of the Week has been offered a scholarship by LSU for the class of 2019 and put on an amazing show for the Kentwood Kangaroos in their 42-20 quarterfinal win over Arcadia on Friday.
Sophomore wide receiver and defensive back Trey Palmer had two pick-sixes covering 90 and 95 yards. Palmer also had a rushing touchdown and receiving touchdown for a total of four scores. He's also been a track star in the 200-yard dash and those skills show up big on the field.
"Speed; speed kills," said Kentwood head coach Jonathan Foster. "Trey is very, very fast. He not only has track speed; he has game speed. Trey won state as a freshman, but he's also translating it into a very good football player for us. That's what we expect from him. He can catch the ball. He plays well on defense. He should make plays … crunch time."
"I want another state championship, two times in a row," Palmer said. "Teams are a little harder, throw the ball, little trick plays. We've been working on it at practice. Working on their throwing plays all week at practice. Big players make big plays. So, that's what I did."
Palmer and the No. 3 Kangaroos travel to No. 2 Logansport for a huge semifinal contest this week.
