BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A statewide burn ban has been lifted, officials announced. However, the burn ban is still in effect for Livingston Parish.
On November 5, 2016 the state issued the ban against any outdoor burning due to extremely dry conditions.
On Monday, November 21, State Fire Marshal "Butch" Browning and Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain announced that the burn ban was no longer needed and effective at 4 p.m. outdoor burning will once again be permitted. The two officials remind everyone burnings are subject to any and all state, local and fire department rules and laws.
The State Fire Marshal thanked citizens for complying saying many fires were prevented that saved lives and property.
