BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Families Helping Families sponsored a big Thanksgiving dinner for special needs people and their families for the 10th year Friday.
Tony Chachere's sponsored all of the turkeys and fried them as well. Pro Start, the culinary training program at Tara High School, sent its student chefs to help serve the delicious lunch.
The lunch was held at Baton Rouge's First Church of the Nazarene where people ate with families and friends.
"It's wonderful because a lot of these families already know each other. So it's great to be able to come together, at least once a year, and see everyone," said Tanja Foil with Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge. "Especially with the flood happening this has been a great way for people to reconnect."
There were also volunteers from Blue Cross Blue Shield and Louisiana State Police who helped carried plates to tables for those who could not.
